It is Brigit's day today, the traditional 1st day of Spring in Ireland. The sun is shining in a clear blue sky, and we got out for a walk -and wade!- in the river before going to play ball in the field. (I reckon I could weave lots of the Brigit's crosses with all the straw/rush stubble!) When I got in to work I met the little gnome celebrating the day amongst the flowers :-)

The daisy is a flower associated with the old goddess Brigit, and it is often in bloom here at this time of year, bringing a bit of extra cheer.

Still, like the straw or rushes used to weave her cross, the skeletons of wild flowers are beautiful, especially when lit up by the sun.
