Where to Eat in Ireland: Kilkenny

Many of you may be like Leah of Leah Travels- coming to visit, perhaps in a rush to see everything you can in a short amount of time, and in need of food; fuel for your journey! I for one find it can dampen an otherwise good trip when you struggle to find a good place to eat--especially when needing to eat, & being pressed for time. Now, I'm sure Leah has gotten a list of good places from her travel advisor Ginger, of Time Travel tours, but I know not everyone has the help of a travel planner, so I thought I would share a few of our Kilkenny City favourites. :-)
Yummy soup selection at Cleeres Kilkenny
Tasty, great value pub lunch!
We love Cleeres Pub & Theatre so much! They have a profile on Facebook that they are quite good about updating with the day's soups---emm, wait, I've a few places to share, yet I'm a slow typist; so let me just tell you about them in this short video! *NOTE: the spread I love at Cleeres is not the garlic pickle, it is the ginger & garlic CHUTNEY- oops!*
And Leah, I see from your website you'll be staying at Hayfield Manor in Cork City- here's what we thought of it. Tip- save plenty of tummy-room & leisurely eating time for their fantastic, beautiful, breakfast!
For more foodie finds, click on my Foodspotting box on the right hand side of this blog. There are several people sharing food favourites in Ireland, and I've a bit about Foodspotting & few links listed here. Happy eating!!
Let us know  in the comments if you've got tips on places to eat!

  1. This is more than I could have ever hoped for, Susan, when I asked you for suggestions. Not only do I appreciate all the delicious tips, but also the shout out to Ginger and me. I'd read your piece on Hayfield Manor and made note of their fabulous breakfast. You're a wonderful ambassador for Ireland. Cheers!

    1. Thanks, Leah, I hope you have a wonderful time! I moved to Ireland after falling in love with the place over 15 years ago. Be careful or you may leave part of your heart here, too :-) Tweet/email/facebook me any time if there's anything we can help you with. Enjoy! Susan
